On Saturday, July 10, 2021, Bakers Choice, the number one choice company for baking products In Nigeria announced the commencement of its baking competition which is the second in the series. The tag for this year’s contest was Bakers Choice Ultimate Bake-Off after a successful take with Bakers Choice Fondant Challenge in 2020.
The competition was announced by Deyemi Okanlawon, a celebrity and popular Nollywood actor. Participants were to bake a 6 layer cake buttercream cake with the theme, “edible art”, post pictures and a 45 second video of their cake detailing the planning, backing and decoration of their cake on their page tagging Bakers Choice and their mentors. Entries starts July 10, 2021 and closes July 25, 2021.
Nine successful participants are expected to emerge for the grand finale where they will be grouped into teams of three to compete for the grand prize. The prize money is in the total of N 4,000,000 with the winning team going home with N2.5m, the team in the second place goes home with N1m and the third place team will go home with 500,000
Besides the prize money, the brand has structured a post competition training/mentorship session in order to deepen the knowledge and understanding of the finalists in baking and sugar craft
The brand believes this is a step in the right direction as it is positioned to create a platform for young bakers to find their passion, horn their baking skill, get the right exposure and resources to make a most successful career path in baking.
